Setting out for a day to the water we had no idea the wahoo gods had in store for us. I had an experience that this was going to be considered a great day of fishing before the sun was coming up as the ship left the pier. I stayed up very late the evening before rigging all my wire leaders for your wahoo I was thinking of finding. In order we headed out the water was calm on the sea of Cortes and as we came south our of cabo san lucas sunlight just starting to break. Before we could fish we’d a pretty good work in the boat, we had heard the day before that the wahoo bite was going mad to the east cape. So after about three hours of hard running in the boat we made a decision to get the lines in the water. As leader fernando got us to the fish, I set up the out riggers and my friend charlie set up the the seat structure.

It was about an hour after losing our lures in-the water that we had a massive wahoo attack. At one time four of the rods bent to the extent that they appeared as if they were going to break. We were fishing with even brighter and actually light tackle fishing line. We are only available for the game of it, so we get no fish that we find, only photographs. Anyways as everybody else on the boat was going mad from the four supports screaming like they were planning to inflatable. You could feel the excitement within the seat of the ship, it was so think you could have cut it with a knife. We reeled in the other lines that didn’t have fish on them to get them out of the way, and started to combat these four fish that we had installed. We got our first wahoo towards the boat after we lost one as a result of our own fault, and she was large about sixty pounds. It is just a little tough to get these fish us hooked and introduced but you can do it once someone with some experience shows you the right way to do it. Well we did the same with all the other two witch went as huge as the primary but nonetheless nice size.

It seemed like we were only burning, with fish virtually fighting to eat our lures when that first hookup came. That day we found over 14 wahoo and 6 stripped marlin, all marked and released. I’ll never forget today and I can guarantee that the people that were with me wont sometimes. So if you ever get the chance to fish baja do not pass it up, but please release what you dont need and keep efficiency in mind. Its an extremely fragile environment around and we must help keep it.

Please keep conservation in mind.
